The Need for a Voter IQ Card

Wisconsin needs a Voter IQ card to protect people from themselves and from others. This is not a new idea. There is a longstanding precedent in this country to restrict the right to vote to those who can pass tests. The Voter IQ card is a way of bringing the wisdom of the South to the great state of Wisconsin. We have laws whose purpose is to protect people from themselves or from others. Laws that set age limits on when children can quit school. Laws requiring people to wear seat belts in cars. Laws requiring motorcycle riders to wear helmets. Laws that restrict drinking and smoking by age. As a society, we learned long ago there are people who must be protected from themselves. In fact, the writers of the U.S. Constitution understood the same thing. When the Constitution was drafted, the only citizens allowed to vote were white male landowners. Some may see that as bigotry. But at the time, it was mainly white male landowners who received an education. Minorities were denied education. Even Thomas Jefferson spoke out against the education of women. Over the years, as women and minorities entered the mainstream education system, they were also given the right to vote.

Today, someone in Wisconsin who thinks he should vote for people who promise to raise his taxes, take away his job, make it difficult or impossible for his children to go to college, reduce the quality of elementary and high school education, and reduce the quality of the physical environment, all in order to save the very wealthiest from paying taxes, should be denied the right to vote in order to be protected from himself.

Others must also be protected from his vote, because he should not be allowed to vote to raise their taxes, take away their jobs, make it difficult or impossible for their children to go to college, reduce the quality of elementary and high school education, and reduce the quality of the physical environment, just so the wealthiest people and the largest  corporations in Wisconsin do not have to pay taxes.

We have laws against stealing, murder, fraud, and so on, because, as we learned over the years, it is necessary to have such laws if we hope to live in a civilized society.

It is for the same reason we need a Voter IQ Card in Wisconsin - so we can elect politicians who will stop those who want to do great harm to us, our children, our state, and our nation.

The Supreme Court ruled that proof is necessary in order to require federal oversight of state laws that restrict voting. The key word is proof, because that word sets a precedent. The precedent is that in order to pass legislation requiring voter ID cards, it is necessary to first prove, not say, there is significant and widespread voter fraud and that the identifiable voter fraud could be eliminated with a voter ID card.

The same is true for Voter IQ cards. There must be proof of the damage caused by stupid voters, which means it is necessary to prove not only that stupid people are voting, but that the results of stupid people voting have damaged our state and our country.
